    BSUK’s work with the LGBT community pays dividends in participation

    Softball in the UK has a long history of being a welcoming and inclusive sport for members of the LGBT community, and BSUK’s work LGBT groups in London and Manchester has paid dividends in terms of increased participation, particularly in slowpitch softball.

    UCL claims university baseball title; Loughborough wins again in softball

    University College London claimed its first-ever university baseball title with a 1-0 win over Loughborough in the final of BSUK’s Spring National University Baseball Championship on 19 March at Farnham Park.  A week later, Loughborough University stormed back to win their fifth straight National University Softball Championship (NUSC) with a walk-off 9-8 win over Midlands rivals Nottingham.

    Announcing the BSUK Awards Nominees

    This weekend, the annual BSUK Awards will be presented from 6:00-8:00 pm at Birmingham City University, immediately following the BSUK Coach Summit.  The Awards have been expanded this year to include a Volunteer of the Year and Umpire of the Year in an effort to recognise the wider workforce who impact our sports.

    Loughborough claims fourth straight National University Softball title

    Twelve softball teams came to Farnham Park on Saturday 15 October to contest the autumn edition of the 2016 National University Softball Championships.  After eight hours of fierce competition, Loughborough University Thunder claimed their fourth straight national title.

    Archway School wins Gloucestershire Post-16 School Games title

    Archway School in Stroud hosted the third Gloucestershire School Games softball finals for post-16 students on Thursday 13 October, and by winning the tournament, the school cemented its place as the hotbed of softball in the county.

    Second University Baseball and Softball Conference takes place in Kettering

    Students from across the country descended on Arena Sports Kettering in Northampton on Saturday 24 September for the second annual National University Baseball and Softball Conference.  The conference provided delegates and BSUK staff with an opportunity to discuss all things university baseball and softball.

    New team at Horsham plays its first-ever competitive game

    The Horsham Broncos, a new co-ed slowpitch team formed over the summer from a community Hit the Pitch programme run by BSUK and the Horsham District Council Sports Development team, played its first competitive game on Wednesday 24 August at Horsham Park – a friendly against the Solent League’s Chichester Falcons.

    Third Manchester Insurance Tournament survives the weather

    The third annual Insurance Institute of Manchester (IIM) Tournament got off to a wet start —and middle, and finish – on Friday 19 August at Parrs Wood School in Didsbury, with continuous downpours throughout day.  However, this didn’t dampen the spirit of the occasion, with players from nine insurance corporations embracing the weather and enjoying the day in true Manchester style, with raindrops dripping from their company baseball caps and umbrellas.
