Second North West Series tournament to run in Manchester on July 1

Thu 15 Jun 2017

The second one-day slowpitch softball tournament in the North West Series, designed as a great introduction to softball for rookie teams or for C-grade and D-grade rec teams looking to have some fun, will be played on Saturday 1 July at Parrs Wood High School in Didsbury, Manchester.

The second installment of the series will include an instant raffle, and a ‘run tally' whereby players can take a guess at the total number of runs to be scored across the tournament by 2.00 pm for £1 per guess, with the closest guess winning all the money wagered.  Every entrant to the raffle and run tally will receive an exclusive North West Series key ring/bottle opener -- every softballer’s best friend!

A local food vendor will be on site providing tournament essentials such as tea, coffee and bacon butties in the morning, plus burgers etc throughout the day.  Sports photographer David Grice will be snapping action shots during games following high praise of his images from North West Series 1.  And winners of each competition band (bronze, silver and gold) will not only take home a trophy but a sweet treat as well.

The entry fee for the tournament will be £120 per team and a tournament entry form can be downloaded here: https://bsuk.wufoo.com/forms/zat4k4g1tq95qr/

Remember

When forming your teams, please remember that this is a C/D-grade tournament and there may be some corporate teams with no experience at all.  We therefore are asking teams not to have players of Division 1 or 2 Manchester League standard (A-grade or B-grade in national terms) on your rosters.  Such players are most welcome to come with your team and help them by coaching.

The venue is within an hour or so of Leeds and Liverpool and local to all Manchester teams, and the tournament is a perfect way of getting experience under the belts of rookie players.

The BSUK team in the North West is planning to extend the North West Series by introducing an indoor series to be held in the winter months.
